Krishi
Vigyan Kendra, Jharsuguda was inaugurated on 30th August 2006 with a
farm of 14.3 acre area situated at Badamal Chowk, Jharsuguda. Out of 14.3 acres of
land, 11.2 acres of land of KVK has already been fenced with boundary wall and
used for seed production unit and horticulture nursery for the benefit of the
farming community of the district. A well planned double storied administrative
building with training hall, farmer’s hostel and six staff quarters are in the
campus. The demonstration units like poly house for seedling raising, a
mushroom spawn production unit, poultry unit, vermicompost unit , azolla unit
and automatic weather station are present in the campus.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra is
a multi disciplinary platform with six numbers of Scientists, headed by Senior
Scientist.Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jharsuguda is an
extension institution for technology transfer from the research institute to
the farmers. The prime goal of KVK, Jharsuguda is to accelerate agricultural
and allied production in the operational area besides imparting training as per
needs and requirements of the farmers, farm women and rural youths including
school drop outs in the rural areas for self employment and enhancing the
productivity.On farm trials and Front Line Demonstrations of various
technologies and roping them to farm community has been the major endeavour of
KVK.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jharsuguda by
virtue of its impelling efforts has improved the farmers understanding of
agriculture and allied sector. Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry,
Fishery, Floriculture, Mushroom production and women empowerment through
agriculture has been the major line of action KVK.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jharsuguda is
producing seeds like groundnut, arhar
along with vegetable seedlings for the farm community. KVK has developed a
progeny mango nursery and mixed fruit orchard of 5 acre area in the farm for
the farming community in the district.KVK is functioning with one Sr. Scientist & Head, 2 scientists out
of six , 2 technical assistant out of three , and 5 administrative and
supporting staffs.
